With this cold front upon us, we’re sure everyone is feeling the change, especially in our hair. So bring back your gorgeously luscious locks without having to take a trip to the hairdresser. We've rounded up our five favourite recipes for you to try. Whether you're looking for a deep conditioning treatment or a way to add some extra shine to your locks, there's a hair mask here for you. 

Honey & Coconut

Targets dullness and keeps hair moisturised
Ingredients
1 teaspoon honey
2 teaspoons coconut oil
Directions
  1. Mix the ingredients together in a small bowl until they are completely combined. 
  2. Apply the mixture to your wet hair and let it sit for 30 minutes before rinsing out with cool water.

Cinnamon

Promotes hair growth and strength due to the anti-microbial nature of cinnamon
Ingredients
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1 tablespoon honey
Directions
  1. Mix all 3 ingredients together in a bowl until smooth.
  2. Apply the mask to your hair and use your fingers to massage it into your scalp and down to the tips of your hair to ensure even coverage. Leave on for 15 minutes or longer, then rinse out with warm water in the shower or bathtub.

Banana & Egg

Helps with oily hair types by removing excess grease
Ingredients
1 banana
1 egg, beaten
Directions
  1. Beat the egg with a fork, add the banana and mix well. 
  2. Apply the mask to your hair and leave it for 30 minutes.
  3. Rinse off with cool water and shampoo your hair as usual.

Egg White & Lemon

Targets thinning hair and can help plump strands
Ingredients 
2 egg whites
1/2 cup of olive oil (or coconut oil)
1/4 cup of lemon juice (fresh is best)
Directions
  1. Beat the egg white until it's frothy and foamy, then add the lemon juice and whisk or beat until well incorporated.
  2. Slowly pour in the olive oil while continuing to whisk or beat, until smooth and creamy.
  3. Apply the mixture to clean, damp hair from root to tip and massage it into your scalp for 10 minutes before covering your head with a towel or plastic wrap for 30 minutes without touching your hair at all!

Oats

Helps combat flat hair by giving an energising boost to the scalp
Ingredients
1/2 cup oats, ground
1/4 cup coconut oil or olive oil (or a combination of the two)
1 egg yolk
1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
Directions
  1. Mix together the oats and oil until well combined. Add the egg yolk and honey or maple syrup if you're using it.
  2. Apply to your hair and leave on for at least 30 minutes before rinsing off.
